Danger Drill, an iPhone app created by a retired Canadian clinical psychologist, outlines the actions necessary to survive mass shootings and other murderous attacks on crowds.

It includes detailed instructions explaining the reasons behind the seven abbreviated Danger Drill direction screens. Ways to survive nine other types of disasters such as earthquakes are linked to Wikihow chapters.

Launched by a Skull and Crossbones icon, the Danger Drill itself begins with a toggle switch that swiftly turns off the phone’s ringtone and vibrate functions. It’s dangerous to call attention to oneself when under attack!

Touching the text box that grimly states, “If You Do Nothing You May Die” leads to the direction screens with headings such as “Repeat These Thoughts Using an Inner Voice of Calm Authority” and “Escape Escape Escape!”

The author believes governments spend billions of dollars equipping military and police forces to protect citizens but haven’t prepared ordinary people to be pro-active when in danger. In an age of ruthless terrorists and deranged gunmen, playing dead is not an option!

In the least, the author hopes to prompt those who frequent crowded venues to identify potential avenues of escape well before the rare but unthinkable happens. To do otherwise risks handing their fate over to those who are utterly callous.
